Thailand

Thailand is one of my most favourite places to visit, so when I was invited to go back in April I didn’t have to be asked twice.

Our first stop was Cha-Am, Located less than 200 km south of Bangkok and just 20 km north of Hua Hin. Cha-Am is a quiet Beach retreat in Petchaburi province; a long stretch of silvery sand that is far quieter than nearby Hua Hin. Cha-Am is popular with couples looking for a romantic retreat, seniors who like peace and quiet, and families with young children who are looking for an area that is both safe and Free from the hassle of Beach vendors. While it is relatively quiet, Cha-Am still offers visitors a number of Beach activities, such as jet skiing and banana Boat riding, and the Seafood is as readily available and inexpensive as any Beach town in Thailand.

En route to Cha-Am, we stopped for a beautiful lunch and tour of Monsoon Valley Vineyards. This not only broke up the journey but was a wonderful experience in a stunning setting. That evening after settling into our hotel the Sofitel, we visited the famous Cicada Night Market. This was fantastic, not just for shopping but there was live music and a great atmosphere. If you are staying in this area I would thoroughly recommend.

Next day we had a tour of Phraya Nakhon Cave based in the national park. The best way to get here is to take a boat otherwise you’ll end up doing 2 hikes. Once you get to the entrance of the park, then the hike (up) takes about 1 hr. It is not for the faint hearted but the reward at the top is worth it.

Then it was onto our stay in the Avanti in Hua Hin. Hua Hin is one of the top tourist destinations of Thailand from its great amount of attractions and activities - plus it isn’t far from Bangkok. The City has many incredible Beaches, mountains, viewpoints, Temples, night markets, water parks, and fine diners for you to choose from and enjoy at any time of the year. Hua Hin features a beautiful, powdery sand Beach, numerous seaside Seafood restaurants, a lively night market, numerous Beach activities, and some great inland activities. We visited quiet a few hotels but one of my favourites was the Dusit Thani Hua Hin. This hotel is amazing and would suit both couples and families.

After our wonderful stay in the Hua Hin Provence it was time to hit Bangkok. Our first night was spent in the fabulous Lancaster hotel. This is very well placed and really lovely vibe to this hotel. A lovely warm welcome from the staff and management. We were then spoilt with a wonderful final night in the Kimpton Maa Lai. Fabulous upgrade to the suites which were out of this world. This hotel is amazing and one of the best in Bangkok. We had a jam packed Itinerary whilst in Bangkok. I do love to hit the ground running once I get to any city. Our first visit was to Wat Arun, Temple of Dawn. This is one of the many landmarks of Bangkok, one not to be missed. It does get busy, so try go early if possible.

China town was another area we visited, the largest Chinatown in the world, I believe. Really fab atmosphere and lots of street food stalls. You could actually spend an entire day here.

Meaklong Railway Market, this is situated approximately 1hr outside of Bangkok. One of the largest seafood markets in Thailand. This market is situated directly on the Railway – which does operate by the way. So if going make sure to visit at a time the train is going through the market for the full experience.

Damnoen Saduak Floating Market, is one of the largest floating markets in Thailand. Best to been done early in the morning and you can combine with the Railway Market. It does get overcrowded but it is still worth a visit.

River cruise evening dinner, is such a lovely experience and is really good value. Usually takes about 2 hrs and is a set menu. Nice to see Bangkok along the river at night time.

I’ve been to Bangkok twice now and honestly don’t think I saw half of it. Each time I visit, there is always something new to see or do. It’s one of those cities that you will love or hate but must visit at some point.
