Couples getaway - MSC DIVINA

When I first thought about this trip, I wanted to enjoy it as an adult trip, without the kids. So, I asked my husband what he thought about cruising. He is usually happy with any itinerary or destination I suggest, so I decided to book the MSC Dvina because of the itinerary. I know some people, when you talk about cruising, prefer new ships, others go for the itinerary. I am the type of person who goes for the itinerary.

We had a pre-night at Palazzo Scanderbeg, a luxury boutique hotel in Rome, a 6-minute walk from the Trevi Fountain. Upon check-in, you are welcomed with a glass of prosecco. The room is beautiful and spacious. Palazzo Scanderbeg does not have a restaurant, but breakfast is served every day in the morning room. The staff will ask you to sit down, and you can order whatever you want and the staff will prepare it for you.

Good to know • Free minibar for the first round • Free coffee • Free wine and snacks at 5pm every day.

The next day we booked our transfer to the Port of Civitavecchia. I booked the Aurea experience, basically the cabins have the best location, most of the cabins are middle ship. In our cabin we got a welcome package (Prosecco + chocolate). I also requested one of the birthday packages that MSC offers for free in my reservation. I chose the EXPLORE & TASTE PACKAGE; you can find more details on the MSC website. We also added an internet package to our booking, we had two days at sea, so we could still be connected and make video calls every day. We added specialty restaurants. My favourite was the Steak House. Amazing food and very friendly staff. We had to go back another day to the Steak House restaurant. It was amazing and what made the difference in our experience was the premium drinks package. It is good to know that you have the best drinks package on board, and you can order any drink up to €14 unlimited. Booking the Aurea also gives you access to the adults-only Solarium, and you can relax in one of the cabanas, especially during sea days, and enjoy your glass of prosecco. I loved that. On other sea days, we booked massages, and you can have access to the Thermal if you are AUREA. Your drinks package works anywhere on the ship, in the Solarium or in the specialty restaurant. I loved the MSC Divina. The ship was refurbished in 2017.

I will need another blog to write about the destinations, but I loved all the ports. Places I would definitely return to, Santorini for a romantic getaway and Naples to explore more of the Amalfi Coast.

ITINERARY: Civitavecchia/ At Sea / Mykonos / Izmir, Turkey / Santorini / At Sea / Naples / Civitavecchia.
