Sing along for Singapore

Singapore, the Lion City… A melting pot of cultures, cuisine, and architecture, this vibrant city-state has something for everyone. As a fan of city breaks, I was excited to explore Singapore, and I was pleasantly surprised by its unique blend of tradition and modernity. From the colourful shophouses of Chinatown to the stunning Gardens by the Bay, Singapore is a feast for the senses. I was fascinated by the city's rich history, which is evident in its well-preserved colonial architecture and museums like the National Gallery Singapore.

The food in Singapore is a highlight, with a diverse range of flavours and dishes to try. I spent hours exploring the city's famous hawker centres and street food spots, like Lau Pa Sat/Satay Street, sampling local favourites like chili crab, Hainanese chicken rice, and laksa. The street food scene is a must-experience, with its vibrant atmosphere and delicious eats.

One of the highlights of my trip was visiting the Marina Bay Sands Observation Deck, where you’re treated to breath-taking panoramic views of the city skyline. Top tip: Don’t miss the Skybar at sunset—it’s hands down the best place to enjoy a sundowner while taking in the stunning views as the city lights up for the evening.

One of my favourite ways to explore the city was by joining a guided bicycle tour. It was the perfect mix of sightseeing and storytelling—our guide was full of fascinating insights and little-known facts that brought Singapore’s history to life. We cruised through quiet backstreets, lively neighbourhoods, and along the waterfront, stopping at hidden gems I never would have found on my own. The best part? The route is completely flat, with no hills, making it easy for all fitness levels to enjoy. It was such a fun and relaxed way to get a feel for the city.

Singapore is also a hub for exciting events. The Formula 1 Singapore Grand Prix is a highlight of the city's calendar, attracting racing fans and thrill-seekers from around the world.

The best way to finish off a day of sightseeing is with a classic Singapore Sling at the Long Bar in Raffles Hotel, soaking up the old-world charm of the iconic venue where the cocktail was born. Alternatively, take a leisurely stroll along the Singapore River and enjoy the city’s vibrant nightlife and scenic views.
